Pretty Things to Make

Look at this variation on Eunny's Venezia from IK Winter 2006 (near the bottom). I have been thinking about trying my hand at colorwork lately and stumbled across this while down the google-hole looking for Starmore Elizabeth I photos. I plan to get my hands on an interlibrary loan copy of Tudor Roses this summer, though I'm also thinking of working up my own idea based on Elizabeth I. I think what people react to is the shaping. At least that does it for me. Here's where I found it. Now, what yarn would you use for Venezia? We'd need a nice fingering weight wool in good colors... Get your knitting caps on!

  1. Wow I can't get over the difference in Venezia in 2 colours as opposed to Eunny's. When I first saw it I thought it was "nice" and really clever but didn't do much for me personally. Now in the 2 colours.....gorgeous. I look forward to seeing what you are going to do with it. Thanks for the link!

  2. That 2 color Venezia looks fantastic. I just received a shipment today of KnitPicks Palette in the new heathered colorways because I was going to substitute that for the Spindrift. I was really impressed. You might want to check it out.

  3. The design really pops out in the two colors, where it kind of gets lost in the colorwork of the original. Although, I really like the colors Seahorse put together there.
